The workshop GNU-Linux and Virtual Learning Environments is an e-Learning event connected with Software Freedom Day (SFD). It is focused to GNU-Linux operating system and it's use for teaching and learning, with different Virtual Learning Environments (VLE) or learning management systems (LMS). In other words, it is an e-learning workshop restricted to the use of open-source systems and tools for teaching and learning.

Quite limited range of topics will be covered in this conference, more or less restricted to the following topics:

  • The use of GNU-Linux platforms into educational systems
  • The Virtual Learning Environments
  • Case studies of eLearning
  • Quality assessment in open and distance education, with OS platforms
  • Open-source eLearning projects
  • GNU-Linux and FLOSS in Romania, in Romanian language
  • Security and ethical issues
  • FLOSS educational computer games

An IT Contest, called ProInfo, is organized together with this workshop to atract Romanian students for developing Open Source projects.

LVLE workshop is a SFD action (for this year too) i.e. it is devoted to the International Software Freedom Day, to the Computer Science freedom.
